We’ve made it back to our home and native land

So, we are now in Vancouver. The date line meant that we arrived at Vancouver in the early afternoon of August 28, about six hours “before” we left Auckland. (Actually it was about 13 hours between boarding and deplaning.) We had three immediate needs upon arrival at YVR: immigration/customs, baggage claim and Tim Horton’s. Guess which one had the longest wait? We managed with some effort to get from the airport, via Skytrain and foot, to Grandma Susan’s condo downtown; We were laden down with our luggage, coats and bags, and were slowed by a bag-versus-kid’s-foot incident, but we made — Read the Rest…
Shades of South Africa…. minus Grandpa

So, I decided that we should have a visit to a winery while we were in New Zealand. Today was the day, since we were driving through Marlborough in the afternoon. We had a slow start from Picton, having been delayed by sleeping in, scouring the luggage for a misplaced birthday gift, and checking out the WiFi at the local library. Smashing through the radio silence….
Sorry for the big gap in posts, folks! We haven’t had internet for ages (okay, just 7 days or so but still) A week ago, we were enjoying a wonderful evening with friends in the hills near Melbourne prior to packing up for our next travel day…to Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. Rest assured we’ve spent many hours in the campervan, travelled many — Read the Rest…
Chilling out in Mona Vale

The girls have decided to play shy for the camera again. So this is the best I can get for our live blogging from Sydney!! We three are catching up on internet stuff while Julian is out running a couple of errands with his aunt. She’s the one who has the gorgeous apartment in Mona Vale where we’re staying – and where we’ve been treated to a spectacular view each morning. It’s sunset now so it’s too dark to show you – maybe next time we’ll have a nice shot of the views from her place. Earlier today we slept — Read the Rest…
G’day mate!
Just a quick note (as not to be too anti social during our visit with relatives!) – to note that we’ve arrived live and well, and are thoroughly enjoying Sydney. More to come later – off to laundry, email, reporting credit card fraud (again – ugh), banking etc etc. Once we’ve gotten real life out of the way we’ll be back to update more.
