Quick greetings from Nepal
We are continuing to have a slow, low key week in Kathmandu. We’ve done a lot of travel planning/playing in the garden, some sightseeing with new friends (always nice to have a local’s view of things), and eating out. Sadly I don’t have any photos to share at the moment; the camera is upstairs with a hopefully sleeping Julian who is the photos-from-camera-to-tablet-guy. I can’t even post any of C&J’s pics since their iPods are recharging. Incidentally it’s also a struggle just to find time to post. Our room often does not have electricity. Even when it does, the WiFi — Read the Rest…
Kathmandu- rest for the weary

7 nights, no plans, beautiful views, friendly people, plenty of English spoken, and lots of food options in walking distance… what more could four weary world travellers want? An affordable upgrade to a roof-top room; this is our view! There is also a ‘regular’ part of the room, with a Queen bed, and another twin. So, lots of sleeping and resting space. Sometimes we can also get WiFi in our room! It’s only supposed to be accessible from the garden but our vantage point allows us access if we’re lucky. We’ve had a very long day. — Read the Rest…

Farewell Toronto!
I think it was around 5am when I thought to myself, “If Dave is coming at 1pm, then we’re not going to get everything packed up in time.” Sure enough, at 2pm Barbara, Dave and I were hauling boxes to the basement like a bucket brigade desperate to put out a fire. It really all goes back to two weeks earlier…we thought Barbara would have two weeks off work before we left, and so that would help with tying up loose ends. Of course, things didn’t work out that way. She had only one week off, and had to wrap — Read the Rest…
Another day, another Tipico Meal dinner
Another wonderful, quiet day in wonderful, quiet Ollantaytambo Seriously, this is the most relaxing, peaceful time we’ve had on vacation in a long time. Our trips are always fun and usually have some element of relaxing (especially as the girls get older), but this time is special. I think it’s largely because we were all so busy, nervous and excited in the lead-up to the trip (especially the portion after NJ& NYC). It’s also because we know this is just the second stop on our Trip Around The World. Wait. You need to re-read that last (bolded) part. Aloud. Doesn’t that — Read the Rest…

Jilligan’s Island
Yes, that’s a reference to a certain daughter of mine and a certain childhood favourite of mine. You know, the show whose characters go on a three hour tour and the seas start getting rough and the Minnow would be lost?? After the hustle and bustle of most of our trip, what I really want when we get to Thailand is to go directly to a beach. One far away from cities and people and boardwalk hustlers. This is apparently harder than it used to be, and is only getting harder. (I have nothing to compare to, having never been — Read the Rest…
Setting up the blog!
It’s only about 6 weeks to go before we leave, so it’s high time to setup the blog. Since we’re not planning on travelling with a real computer, I have been trying to setup the blog entirely on Barbara’s ASUS Transformer tablet. And my general conclusion is that mobile devices are 100% deserving of the description “consumer” devices, because once you stop using them to consume information and start trying to create information, holy cow, they suck rocks! First the file management software didn’t show that it had uploaded any of the WordPress files that I uploaded to our website. — Read the Rest…
