Does your system have to be made in Ontario?
All microFIT and FIT projects must meet certain “domestic content requirements.” They are spelled out in detail on the official microFIT and FIT websites.
For microFIT solar power systems, it means that as of January 1, 2011, the solar panels will need to be made in Ontario (at least partially). There’s an official list for how much credit you get for having each part of your system made in Ontario, but because of the way the rules are written, the only way to meet the requirement as of January 1, 2011 will be to have panels where at least some of the manufacturing was done in Ontario. You should discuss these requirements with your chosen installer.
Prior to January 1, 2011, there was more flexibility, but chances are systems would have needed at least the mounting and wiring components made in Ontario and/or sourced from Ontario suppliers.
