Does your system have to be made in Ontario?
All microFIT and FIT projects must meet certain “domestic content requirements.” They are spelled out in detail on the official microFIT and FIT websites.
For microFIT solar power systems, it meant that as of January 1, 2011, the solar panels would need to be made in Ontario (at least partially). Prior to January 1, 2011, there was more flexibility, but chances are systems would have needed at least the mounting and wiring components made in Ontario and/or sourced from Ontario suppliers. There’s an official list for how much credit you get for having each part of your system made in Ontario.
More recently, due to a WTO ruling against the OPA, the rules have been relaxed a bit. You should discuss these requirements with your chosen installer, they ought to be up to date on the latest developments.
